The transition of the Serbian Armed Forces from a conscript-based service to a professional military has brought significant changes to the country's Land Forces. According to Land Forces Commander Lieutenant General Ljubisa Dikovic, the major challenge has been creating a new training regime. Under the previous, conscript-focused system, collective training was subordinated to the demands of performing operational tasks, while officer, non-commissioned officer and command personnel training was separated from unit training. A training cycle would end when a particular generation of conscripts finished their service, and would start anew with the next generation.
