Raytheon's ADM-160C Miniature Air Launched Decoy-Jammer (MALD-J) has undertaken operational trials in which it has demonstrated its ability to protect aircraft from enemy radar and air-defence systems, the company announced on 6 September. The tests, which were carried out by the US Air Force (USAF), saw "multiple MALD-Js in free flight and multiple captive-carry MALD-Js [conducting] electronic attack missions and [demonstrating] MALD-J's ability to operate in a dynamic environment with a manned aircraft strike package." The company did not disclose the number of MALD-J decoys released during this trial, but did say that it marked the greatest number of MALD vehicles airborne at one time.
