Bumar Group's Mesko and Telesystem-Mesko divisions presented a new unit-level air-defence system at Poland's MSPO exhibition. The Kusza (Crossbow) system consists of two modernised Grom man-portable air defence system (MANPADS) missiles mounted on a specialised launch rack fitted on the back of a Polaris all-terrain vehicle. "This system fills a gap that exists between the single foot soldier carrying around one or more Grom missiles on his back and a larger, SA-6 type air-defence battery," said a Telesystem-Mesko representative. "The system is small, portable and sets up and breaks down in a few minutes. In the chassis of the Polaris vehicle there is also storage space for two additional Grom missiles and a gripstock in case the system operators want to fire the missile separately from the mobile mounted unit."
