Despite the plethora of armoured solutions on display at this year's Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEi) exhibition, held at London's ExCel Centre from 13-16 September, the future of UK armour remains in limbo as the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) labours to procure within its financial means. The capability sustainment programme for the Warrior infantry fighting vehicles, for example, known as WCSP, has the Lockheed Martin UK (LMUK) solution as the only horse left in the race following the deselection of the B AE Systems solution back in February. However, despite UK Defence Secretary Liam Fox indicating in July that WCSP would proceed, LM has yet to attain the status of preferred bidder for the programme.
