AgustaWestland has become the latest UK aerospace company to cut jobs in response to declining UK Ministry of Defence revenues, with up to 375 positions to go at its 3,400-strong Yeovil helicopter manufacturing facility. The company said on 7 October that the decision was "necessary to prepare for the changing mix of activities in the UK business", adding that "revenues from the MoD are declining and shifting towards longer-term support solutions, while export orders that have slipped in the near term are projected to grow over time". The redundancies will primarily affect management and corporate positions. The cuts amount to more than 10 per cent of AgustaWest-land's 3,600 UK employees.
