The European Commission will create a new task force amid warnings that Europe is running out of time to prevent terminal decline in its defence industry.The move is aimed at widening EU policy in favour of the continent's defence sector, which is facing a declining technological base and deep fragmentation along national lines."Ten years from now there will be no national defence market able to nurture its own industry, so either the whole market will be European by then or it won't exist at all," Christian Ehler, a German Member of the European Parliament (MEP), told a defence policy conference in Brussels on 7 November.
