Somali government forces will launch an all-out offensive against the insurgent movements that continue to control the majority of the southern and central part of the nation, a senior cabinet member said on 17 January.rnAbdirashid Hidig, minister of state for internal affairs, vowed that the government was determined to recapture the country and bring it under control. Warnings followed from Somalia's most active insurgent group, the Shabab, that it was preparing its own offensive - butrnn neighbouring Kenya.
