Nigeria's Joint Task Force (JTF) in the oil-rich Niger Delta region has been placed on alert for sabotage and kidnapping following the 30 January announcement by the region's militants that they would suspend a nearly five-month-old ceasefire.rnThe decision by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) to resume hostilities is among the most feared consequences of the leadership crisis gripping Africa's most populous nation following the departure for medical treatment of President Umaru Yar'Adua in late November 2009.
