Despite US Defense Secretary Robert Gates' severe reprimand of prime contractor Lockheed Martin (LM) on 1 February in relation to cost and schedule overruns on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) programme, company executives briefing on the F-35 at the Singapore Air Show the following day still seemed far from being on the same page as the Pentagon.rnGates had announced in his Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) speech that "the progress and performance of the F-35 over the past two years has not been what it should be ... as a number of key goals and benchmarks were not met".
