Raytheon announced a tie-up with Larsen & Toubro (L&T), one of India's larger private sector defence companies, at Defexpo on 16 February to bid for the Indian Army's long-delayed programme to upgrade its T-72M1 'Ajeya' main battle tanks(MBTs).rnThe T-72M1 s form the backbone of India's armoured columns.rnUnder the 'teaming agreement', Raytheon aims to provide some 1,000 'night blind' full-solution thermal imaging fire control systems (TIFCSs), while the Mumbai-based L&T would be the systems integrator for the upgrade, to be executed at its specially created Talegaon facility in western India.
