The UK Royal Air Force (RAF) is trialling the use of non-pilots as operators of the General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc (GAASI) MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the officer commanding the UK's MQ-9 Reaper force told Jane's on 8 March.rnAccording to Wing Commander Jules Ball, Officer Commanding 39 Squadron, at present four "air-minded individuals" are undergoing a flight and role-related training programme to see "if those individuals can be considered as operators for Predator [and if] there are lessons to be learned if we decide to expand the [UK's UAV] capability further [in the future].
