The jury is still out in Europe regarding the impact on transatlantic defence industrial relations of the recent retreat by a Northrop Grumman/EADS team to supply the US Air Force (USAF) with a first batch of new refuelling tankers worth at least USD10 billion - thus giving Boeing sole-source supplier status.rnWhile EU competition authorities are clearly displeased with the circumstances in which EADS and its US partner Northrop Grumman withdrew their joint bid for the KC-X requirement, some EU officials and defence policy experts in Brussels caution against drawing any definitive conclusions - yet.
