The Indian government has approved the payment of an additional INR19 billion (USD413 million) to France's DCNS for the Import of a variety of components essential for the stalled construction of six Scorpene submarines being built locally under licence for the Indian Navy (IN).rnContentious price negotiations with DCNS over the provision of engines, generators, various other components and raw material such as special steel for inclusion in three submarines under construction at Mazagon Dockyard Limited (MDL) at Mumbai since late 2006 have delayed the programme by at least two to three years. They are now expected to be completed around 2014-15.
