Lockheed Martin and the US Army's automated convoy programme have developed a new capability that could allow an unmanned lead vehicle to be 'pushed' by others in the column.rnThe company announced on 24 May that it had conducted successful internal tests earlier in the month of a push-vehicle capability as part of the Convoy Active Safety Technology (CAST) system.rnCAST is a technology development effort spearheaded by the army's Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC). It is intended to enable convoy vehicles to drive themselves, although it is generally meant to be used with drivers in the cab.
