Raytheon has held a final clarification meeting with the German Ministry of Defence (MoD) regarding the company's offer to provide its Patriot air-defence system in place of the Medium Extended Air Defence System (MEADS) and expects to receive word on Germany's decision "no later than 30 June", a company spokesperson told Jane's al the ILA Berlin Air Show in early June. With the German government looking to make cuts of EUR8 billion (USD9.6 billion) in the country's defence budget, MEADS - a joint development between Germany, Italy and the United States - is currently the subject of a parliamentary review and is considered particularly vulnerable to any such cuts.
