Any decision made by the new Dutch government to withdraw from the initial operational test and evaluation (IOT&E) phase of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) programme would threaten the country's entire defence aerospace sector, according to Cent Van Vilet, managing director of the Netherlands Industries for Defence and Security (NIDV).rnSuch a possibility was raised by the Dutch parliament on 20 May, ahead of the country's 9 June election. A decision on the Netherlands' continued participation as a Level Two Partner in the JSF is expected to be part of a deal on a new coalition government, with the parties currently locked in talks.
