The UK Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology, Peter Luff, announced two urgent operational requirement (UOR) contracts for additional vehicles for deployment to Afghanistan, at DVD.rnUnder a GBP45 million (USD67 million) contract placed with the Supacat-Babcock alliance in Febuary this year (but which has only just been revealed) a total of 140 of the latest-generation Jackal 2A patrol vehicles are being supplied. This will bring the total number of Jackals supplied to the UK to more than 400 units in three configurations: Jackal 1, Jackal 2 and the latest Jackal 2A, which is already in production.
