Determining more appropriate contract types for acquisition programmes and better incentivis-ing industry to cut costs are among several measures that the US Department of Defense (DoD) hopes will help generate an annual 2-3 per cent budget saving, according to a top procurement official.rnThe individual military services and DoD agencies have been asked to save a total of about USD 102 billion over the next five years as part of an ambitious plan to reduce overhead costs and transfer the savings to enhance war-fighting capabilities.
