Thales will deliver the first production-standard active electronically scanned array (AESA) RBE2 radar for the Dassault Rafale combat aircraft in August, the company announced on 6 July.rnThe new AESAs will be fitted to the 60 Rafale F3-stand-ard aircraft ordered by France in December 2009 and the first AESA-equipped French Air Force Rafale squadron will declare initial operational capability in 2012. Thales will actually build 63 new radars, to include three pre-production sets fitted to trial aircraft. It is the first of these radars that will be handed over in August.
