India's Cabinet Committee on Security, headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, approved Phase II of the country's coastal security architecture on 24 September. This second phase is to be implemented from 1 April 2011 for an estimated INR11 billion (USD244 million) and will include acquiring additional naval and air assets and building extra marine police stations and jetties as well as training more personnel.
