Senior Royal Air Force (RAF) officers are continuing to push hard in the UK Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) for the service to be allowed to buy the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).rnPlans for the UK to purchase 138 JSFs have been under threat since the UK's coalition government set ambitious targets to reduce spending to address the country's budget deficit, with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) looking at budget cuts of between 10 and 20 per cent.
