Cyber threats are a serious and increasing problem, with the potential to disrupt the government, critical national infrastructure and industry, according to Iain Lobban, director of the UK's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ).rnSpeaking at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) on 12 October, Lobban revealed that more than 1,000 malicious emails are targeting UK government networks each month and that the "real and credible threat" posed by terrorists, organised criminals and hostile states "goes to the heart ofrnour economic well-being anc national interest".
