The NORINCO AR2 300 mm (12-round) system is based on an 8x8 cross-country chassis, which is very similar to the Russian State Scientific Industrial Enterprise (Splav) 300 mm BM 9A52 (12-round) Smerch. This MRL is in service with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) under the designation PHL-03. The standard unguided rockets have a minimum range of 20 km and a maximum range of 130 km with the guided weapon having a circular error of probability (CEP) of 50 m.rnIn addition to NORINCO there are a number of other Chinese companies marketing MRLs, including Aerospace Long-March International Trade Co Ltd (ALIT), although it is understood that the actual rockets are manufactured by Sichuan Aerospace Industry Corporation.
