The Boeing AH-64D Apache Block III attack helicopter has made its first flight with the Longbow Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Tactical Common Data Link Assembly (UTA), the company announced on 28 January. The UTA developed by Longbow - a joint venture of Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman - is a two-way, high-bandwidth datalink that allows Apache crews to remotely control UAS sensors and flight controls. Using the UTA, Apache crews can exercise UAS control at long ranges and receive realtime, high-definition streaming video on their multifunction displays.
