The ex-Finnish Navy units Vukovar (RTOP 41) and Dubrovnik (RTOP 42) -formerly FNS Ouluand FNS Koto-are expected to be ready for operational service under their new flag by June.rnBuilt by Waertsilae and originally commissioned in the mid-1980s, the 45 m, 300-ton vessels were retired from Finnish service in 2007 and sold to Croatia in July 2008.rnThe HRK65 million (EUR8.8 million) contract between the Croatian Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Finnish company Patria, which included a crew training package, was part of an offset agreement that included Patria AMV 8x8 armoured personnel carriers.rnCroatia is also planning to buy up to 10 indigenously built 40 m fast patrol craft in a programme worth some HRK500-700 million, as well as two to four advanced 80-120 m corvettes at a cost of around HRK3 billion. However, the latter procurement may be put on hold because of budgetary pressures.
