Investment by BAE Systems in autonomous systems has resulted in an architecture that can be applied to a wide range of platforms. With the core architecture in place, the company is able to offer solutions tailored to a wide variety of requirements.rnDevelopment of a core autonomous control architecture has allowed BAE Systems to develop and explore numerous platform solutions, all drawing on the same basic programmes. Furthermore, each incremental development in the core architecture can be rapidly applied to other systems.rnIn the air arena the company has focused initially on the 'high end' of unmanned aircraft systems - not only reacting to customer requirements but also to provide maximum leverage of its existing combat aircraft expertise. The result is the Taranis stealthy UCAV demonstrator,rnand the Mantis persistent ISTAR vehicle, both of which are aimed at the high-level strategic end user.
