The French Navy has begun an evaluation of a novel variable-draft landing craft, known as L-Cat, to assess its suitability for use as a potential future expeditionary watercraft.rnConstructions Industrielles de la Mediterranee (CNIM) has privately funded the design and build of a full-scale 30 m-long demonstrator, built by the Gemelin shipyard in La Rochelle on France's Atlantic coast.
