The Ecuadorean Air Force is set to buy 24 Embraer Super Tucano light attack aircraft, the company confirmed on 23 March. The contract for the two-seat turboprop aircraft, which will be used primarily for border-patrol and pilot-training missions, was finalised in late 2008 with deliveries expected to begin later this year. Also included are an extensive integrated logistic support (ILS) package and an advanced training and operation support system (TOSS), covering not only the aircraft but also ground-support stations and a flight simulator. Embraer declined to specify a contract value. This is the fourth export contract signed by Embraer to supply Super Tucanos to a Latin American airforce. In August 2008 the Chilean Air Force ordered 12 aircraft and in early 2009 Embraer confirmed the sale of eight Super Tucanos to the Dominican Republic. The type is already in service with the air forces of Brazil and Colombia.
