The US-led Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), which is conducting counter-piracy patrols off the Horn of Africa, warned merchant shipping operators on 7 April that they cannot rely on naval forces for protection.rnHighlighting a series of recent attacks off Somalia and Kenya, the Bahrain-based CMF said that "despite increased naval presence in the region, ships and aircraft are unlikely to be close enough to provide support to vessels under attack".
