The US Delence Security Co-operation Agency (DSCA) advised Congress on 3 April of a Mexican request for one EAOS CASA CN-235-300M Persuader maritime patrol aircraft via the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme.rnThe potential sale, worth USD60 million, would be made via EADS North America and would aid the Mexican Navy's fight against narcotics smuggling and other organised crime. The sale would also include the supply of spares and support, technical data and personnel training and equipment.rnCongress has up to 30 days from the date of notification to block the sale, but this rarely happens, DSCA representative Charles Taylor told Jane's on 8 April. Once the 30 days have expired, the request would move to a letter of acceptance and then onto a contract in about 120 days.
