The Portuguese Aerospace Industry Consortium (PAIC) has begun development of an indigenous unmanned aerial system (IMS) in partnership with Lockheed Martin. The US company will provide technical guidance services to the PAIC during the development of the Imperio (Empire) UAS. The project covers the development of three demonstrators for dual-use tasks such as surveillance, detection and search and rescue (SAR).
