Jordan and the United States have committed some USD200 million to training special lorces for counter-insurgency operations in the Middle East with the opening on 19 May of the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center (KASOTC).rnAt an opening ceremony attended by the top US commander in Afghanistan and lraq, General David Petraeus, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) chief of Staff General Khaled Sarayreh noted that special operations forces (SOF) represented the "future" for bringing an end to insurgency and instability.rnThe sprawling KASOTC complex, stretching over 125 acres, will be directed by US Major General (retired) Gary Harrell.
