The US Marine Corps (USMC) is hedging its off-road vehicle solution for Afghanistan between plans to upgrade current trucks and a US Army-led effort to rapidly buy new mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) all-terrain vehicles (M-ATVs).rnUSMC Commandant General James Conway has said the service would prefer to save money by improving the suspension on current MRAPs instead of buying additional M-ATVs, but during a 15 May speech he noted: "We are not divorcing ourselves from the M-ATV programme at this point." Both options remain on the table for the USMC.
