The first of 18 refurbished G222 tactical transport aircraft for the Afghan National Army Air Corps (ANAAC) has been rolled out at a ceremony at Alenia Aero-nautica's facility in Naples, the company announced on 2 July.rnThe aircraft were ordered by the US Air Force ( USAF) in September 2008 at a cost of USD287 million. The Combined Security Transition Command in Kabul will begin transferring them to the ANAAC in September.rnAccording to prime contractor Alenia North America, the ANAAC's G222s - which include two VIP variant aircraft - belong to different production groups that range from 1977 to 1985 and meet different production standards.
