North Korea's nuclear weapon and ballistic missile programmes pose a serious threat to the security of Japan, as well as to the international community, Japan's new defence White Paper has warned.rnThe 2009 White Paper, details of which were seen by Jane's ahead of its release by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on 17 July, said Japan needed to closely monitor developments in North Korea and warned that Pyongyang could potentially achieve miniaturisation of nuclear weapons and deploy nuclear warheads in the near future. It also noted that North Korea had imported various ballistic missile materials and technologies.
