The first of six Type 45 destroyers, Daring, will be commissioned into the UK Royal Navy during a ceremony at Portsmouth naval base on 23 July.rnThe 7,450-ton ship was accepted off contract from prime contractor BVT Surface Fleet in December 2008 and is expected to meet its in-service date in December 2009.rnLaunched in February 2006, Daring completed its final set of three contractor sea trials in September 2008. Ships two to six will only require two sets of contractor trials because of the "extensive lessons" that BVT said it has learnt from its experience with Daring.
