Plans to hold a full-scale demonstration of Germany's Northrop Grumman Eurohawk high-altitude long-endurance (HALE) unmanned aerial system (UAS) in 2011 are on schedule, according to a senior German procurement official.rnWulf Hausen, UAS Project Director at the Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement (BWB), told the Shepherd 'Unmanned Vehicles, Europe' conference at the end of July that the risk-reduction Eurohawk air vehicle was due to make its first test at Edwards Air Force Base (AFB) in California at the end of the year after a roll-out in October. Further tests are planned to see if the extra antenna and domes fitted to the German version of the Block 20 RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) affect its flight characteristics.
