The US State Department has told Jane's that it is looking to introduce the delayed bilateral defence trade treaties with Australia and the UK "as soon as possible" but has not confirmed that the accords will be ratified before the end of 2009.rnA spokesman said on 6 August: "The [State] Department remains committed to having both of these treaties, which would strengthen defence co-operation with these two close allies, enter into force as soon as possible."
