The Taiwanese government has received and signed a letter of offer and acceptance (LOA) from US officials, agreeing to the procurement of an additional four Patriot air and missile defence systems in a deal worth around USD3.2 billion.rnGovernment sources told Jane's that the LOA, which was received in early August, agreed to the sale of four new operational fire units (OFUs). However, in 2008 Taiwan's government approved an undisclosed budget to procure a total of six additional Patriot PAC-3 (Patriot Advanced Capability-3) OFUs alongside a trainer system.
