The past three months have been a testing time for the British Army. In July it suffered its worse month of casualties since the start of the Afghan campaign eight years ago, which took the number of fatalities above those suffered during the UK commitment in Iraq.rnPublic disquiet over the treatment of war wounded by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reached a new high, while the then head of the British Army, General Sir Richard Dannatt, recently got embroiled in a public row with members of the governing Labour Party over the numbers of helicopters and troops deployed to Afghanistan.rnIf this was not enough, the UK government's financial crisis is threatening to unleash spending cuts on the UK armed forces.
