The French defence ministry placed an order for 332 VBCI (Vehicule Blinde de Combat d'lnfanterie) infantry combat vehicles with constructors Nexter Systems and Renault Trucks Defense on 2 September.rnThe booking from the defence procurement agency (Delegation Generale pour I'Armement - DGA) will bring to 630 the total of VBCIs that the French Army is to procure. Nexter began VBCI deliveries in May 2008 from a first batch of orders for 218 vehicles. The 100th VBCIrnwas supplied to France's 35th Infantry Regiment in July of this year.rnThe global contract for the VBCIs is worth EUR2.86 billion (USD4.06) billion to Nexter, Renault Trucks Defense and its partners in the programme.
