The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded Thales UK a GBP25 million (USD41 million) contract to act as the Mission System Design Authority (MSDA) for the Talisman route proving and clearing system.rnThis was ordered last year as an urgent operational requirement (UOR) for deployment to Afghanistan and will be operated by the Royal Engineers.rnIt is understood that about six Talisman systems have been ordered by the MoD. Each will comprise four Mastiff 2 heavy protected patrol vehicles, two Buffalo mine-clearance vehicles and two JCB high-mobility engineer equipment (HMEE) vehicles. The system also includes remote-controlled vehicles.
