Poland's government has approved proposals for the country's 2010 defence budget, amid confusion over whether it represents an increase or decrease in real terms.rnAccording to information released to Jane's on 16 September, defence spending will not exceed PLN25.46 billion (USD9 billion) for the year. The figure fits the rule of spending 1.95 per cent of GDP on defence and formally means that expenditure would rise by 1.7 per cent. However, with inflation of 3-3.5 per cent expected, it would represent a fall of some 1.2-1.7 per cent on the official 2009 budget.
