Before the end of 2009 Northrop Grumman plans to test a system on board the KC-135 aerial refuelling tanker that can defend against infrared-guided missiles, according to a senior company official speaking at an Air Force Association conference on 14 September.rnJack Pledger, business development directorfor infrared coun-termeasures, said Northrop Grumman has used its own money to modify a commercial Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) system for military use.
