France's defence exports rose by 13 per cent to EUR6.58 billion (USD9.6 billion) in 2008, its highest level since 2000 - but on the domestic front the defence budget will see a slight dip in 2010, it was announced last week.rnThe country achieved strong defence trade despite the global economic downturn and significant competition from other defence exporters, said Defence Minister Herve Morin on 28 September. According to the annual report, France ranked fourth among the world's defence exporters from 2003 to 2007 with a market share of 7.7 per cent, behind Russia (8.2 per cent), the UK (13.7 per cent) and the United States (52.3 per cent).
