Colombia has activated a new marine brigade for operation in the southeast of the country, the country's defence minister, Gabriel Silva, announced on 12 October.rnThe 3rd Marine Infantry (River) Brigade will operate mainly on the rivers that border Ecuador and Peru.rnIts main role is to cut off supplies to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) units operating near these border areas and isolate them.
