North Korea has requested the lifting of UN sanctions, including an arms embargo, in exchange for a return to the negotiating table over its controversial nuclear programme, experts have told Jane's.rnDuring the first visit to Pyongyang of US President Barack Obama's special envoy, Stephen Bosworth. which took place from 8-10 December, the reclusive state denounced the fresh UN sanctions imposed since June as "unreasonable", according to South Korean diplomats.
