The Swedish armed forces face a shortfall of approximately SEK1.5 billion (USD230 million) for their projected expendi- ture in 2008. As a consequence, Sweden may be forced to consider a major reduction in international exercises and a substantially decreased amount of flight time for the JAS 39 Gripen multirole combat aircraft.
