The QinetiQ-led Metrix consortium was told on 31 January that it has been stripped of preferred bidder status for the second phase of the UK's Defence Training Review (DTR) rationalisation programme on the grounds that it was "unable to offer an affordable and acceptable solution". The UK government added that the competition relating to the second phase had "been brought to a close", with the expectation that a "further DTR update... will be provided later this year [2008] after the appropriate investment decisions are made".
