The French state-owned land armaments group Nexter has put its troubled past behind it and can expect to thrive reasonably in the years ahead with regular orders from France's armed forces and export contracts, according to Nexter's chief executive, Luc Vigneron. "In the longer term, however, our survival depends on sealing an alliance with another large European group in order to compete successfully for work on new equipment that the armed forces will require in the period between 2010 and 2020," Vigneron said when presenting the company's financial results on 27 February.
